  1. Toll says:
Soundtrack to the British musical "surrealistic documentary", featuring Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention; directed and written by Frank Zappa and Tony Palmer, with special material written by Howard Kaylan, Mark Volman, and Jeff Simmons. Original LP liner notes: This music is not in the same order as in the movie/5(18).
  2. Tojind says:
All selections published by Munchkin Music (ASCAP) except track published by Frank Zappa Music (BMI). This release features an Enhanced CD track following the standard audio program on each disc. Enhanced CD is an exciting new format, endorsed by the computer and audio industries, which allows the listener to experience multimedia in 4/5(3).

Because the Zappa Family Trust doesn’t own the rights to Frank’s movie, it’s been messed with by anyone and everyone who can legally or not release a version of Motels. The only solution is Blu Ray where films are scanned from the master reels and restored for the best picture possible/5().
  4. Kazrajora says:
The original Motels () was the first Zappa album I bought, a double vinyl in a gatefold sleeve. The discs had been inserted into the sleeve in the wrong order, so I listened to side three (beginning with "I'm Stealing the Towels") first/5(54).
  5. Meztidal says:
The soundtrack to Frank Zappa's strange early-'70s film Motels was always doomed to be a peripheral entry in his discography. The movie's story was not easy to follow, and neither is the record (not that plot was ever a big focus of the production). It's typically wacky Zappa of the era, with unpredictable sharp turns between crunchy rock bombast, orchestration, and jazz/classical.

The review of Motels on this site by "a customer" on 1/8/ is a better explanation than any I have read before. My rationale for 4 stars versus 5 is based on my personal view of how often I am likely to listen to this soundtrack as compared to many other Zappa releases. *[Update 5/12/ The film of Motels is now available on DVD]/5(39).

Motels is the soundtrack to the film of the same name, in which the Mothers of Invention go crazy in the small town of Centerville, and their bassist, Jeff (a parody of actual.
